Pingxi Lantern Festival (平溪天燈節)

One of Taiwan’s most iconic Lantern Festival traditions.
Visitors write wishes on sky lanterns before releasing them into the night sky, creating a quiet, collective moment of hope and renewal along the old railway town of Pingxi.

Yanshui Beehive Fireworks Festival (鹽水蜂炮)

March 2–3, 2026
Yanshui District, Tainan City

A centuries-old Lantern Festival ritual known for its intensity.
Firework “beehives” are ignited in the streets, releasing thousands of firecrackers believed to ward off bad luck and invite protection and prosperity for the coming year.
